"Danny, this is amazing," Mindy tells him, turning around and smiling so that he'll know that she's serious. It makes her heart ache in a strange way, though, a way that she's never ached for Boston but only ever New York, the one place where she's sure she was meant to be.
She doesn't let herself think about it too much, doesn't let herself dwell on how much she misses it and the fact she may never see those streets again. The fact she might not get proposed to at the Empire State Building after all. She can't afford to make herself that sad.
So while the nostalgia for the past is undeniable, she forces herself to be grateful for this small taste of home, and Danny. Fight as they might, having him in Darrow with her has been of immeasurable worth.
